Can It Book With a Specific Staff Member?

The short answer

Yes. When a caller asks for a specific groomer, trainer, walker, or handler by name, the assistant checks that person's own calendar rather than the business as a whole, and only offers times when they are actually scheduled to work. It tells the caller it is an AI assistant, books the requested service into that staff member's real availability, and follows the rule you set for what happens when the person a client wants is fully booked.

Why a shared calendar is not enough

A pet business with more than one groomer, trainer, or walker rarely runs off a single calendar in practice. A client who has been coming to the same groomer for two years wants that groomer, not just an open chair, and booking them into someone else's slot without asking creates a call to fix it later.

The assistant works from the staff structure you give it: who performs which services, whose calendar governs their hours, and which requests can go to whoever is open versus which ones need a named person.

What happens when the requested person is full

You decide the fallback. Some businesses want the assistant to offer the next available time with that same staff member, even if it is days out. Others would rather it offer a different staff member first and only wait on the preferred one if the client insists.

Either way, the assistant states the real options plainly rather than guessing, and it never books a client with a different groomer or trainer than requested without saying so first.

Common questions

Can it tell staff calendars apart from the business calendar?

Yes. You define which calendar belongs to which staff member, and the assistant checks the right one for a named request instead of just the business as a whole.

What if a client does not care who they see?

It offers whichever staff member has real availability for the service and time requested, following whatever assignment rule you set, first available, rotation, or your own preference.
